MANUFACTURING SECTOR

The manufacturing sector is a large and diverse career which includes electronics, chemicals, bio-medical sciences, engineering, nanotechnology etc.

Job Descriptions
Within all these branches there are a variety of specialisations including design, research and development and production. Careers tend to be available at operative, craft, technician and professional levels ?training routes are available to allow career progression.

Personal Qualities
You?ll need to have an interest in maths, science and technology, with good judgement and reasoning skills. An inventive and enquiring mind helps when trouble shooting or developing new approaches to problems. Often it is necessary to work under pressure,
good communication skills are valuable particularly if you are working as part of a team.

Education Qualifications
Ability in maths, English and science are the building blocks of a successful career in the manufacturing sector. The eventual required qualification level will depend upon the entry route you choose for the particular area of specialisation that you are interested in.
